Happy Birthday Joey-Two Years

Joey’s birthday isn’t officially until Sunday, but I likely won’t remember to post then, so I wanted to go ahead and mark the occasion on the blog with some cute then and now photos.

I really don’t have the words to express how much this horse has meant to me already in his life. He’s gotten me through some incredibly tough moments in the last year, and always makes me smile after a rough day. I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to raise another baby horse after this guy because he’s made it SO incredibly easy that any other baby (except maybe a full sibling…) would seem like a challenge afterwards.

He goes to the trainer to be started under saddle in less than two weeks and it’s bittersweet for sure. I’m very excited for our future under saddle adventures, but the farm will seem very empty without him to greet me every evening. Lately, he’s even been following me back out and watching me leave after I feed. K is going with me to drop him off so if I get emotional on the drive home at least I’ll have moral support/someone to drive the truck and trailer home. It could happen. Speaking of K, her mare, Jade, is going to be foaling sometime in the next 30 days and K will have a Joey half sibling!

Without any further ado, enjoy some pictures of the best horse kid (I’m obviously biased…) out there:

Note the hair explosion on the ground behind him in the now picture!

Now picture is where he stands every evening and stares at me until I get out of the car.

His observance of personal space has definitely gotten worse disappeared completely.

Joey show

First show vs. second show. Third show is Labor Day weekend of 2019!

I can’t begin to express how lucky I am that I was given my heart horse in the package of my dream horse. ❤ Happy birthday baby Joe!

  1. It doesn’t seem possible that it’s been two years already. Happy birthday. He’s so cute. Looking forward to following along with the next part of your journey 🙂
